What the classifiers highlight

Built in 1910 near the Roman-era hot springs of Chaves, this Belle Époque palace turned its old ballroom into the Salão Nobre dining room and kept the roll-top bathtubs in its rooms. MICHELIN notes the standalone thermal spa designed by Pritzker winner Álvaro Siza Vieira, a golf course, and Douro wine tastings held in the hotel's own cellar.
