What the classifiers highlight
Matera's cave hotels went from novelty to one of the wonders of the trade in a few years, and MICHELIN marks this opening as a new high for the albergo diffuso. The rooms run from raised suites with long views to underground refuges with vaulted ceilings and bare stone. The Artema restaurant and the Elysium spa are cut from the same limestone.
