Mid-mountain at Northstar Resort, the lodge gives Lake Tahoe its only ski-in, ski-out hotel, roughly 170 rooms and suites built more like an alpine retreat than a Ritz, each with a fireplace and mountain view. A gondola sits out back; a shuttle runs to Truckee in winter and the beaches in summer.
