Prestonfield House Edinburgh

Hotel site

What the classifiers highlight

Built in 1687 for Sir James Dick by the king's own architect, William Bruce, the house still keeps its peacocks wandering twenty acres near Arthur's Seat. Eighteen rooms and five suites carry Venetian glass bathrooms and bespoke furniture, and Rhubarb, the restaurant, comes from James Thomson, who also runs The Witchery.
