What the classifiers highlight
Shaped like a ship pushing into the Atlantic, Muir sits among three wharf buildings in Halifax's new Queen's Marque district, its Gaelic name meaning sea. Architect Brian MacKay-Lyons used local granite, sandstone and walnut, and nearly all 109 rooms face the water. Guests can take the inn's Morris yacht out, or slip into the third-floor speakeasy, BKS.
