What the classifiers highlight
Built from a 1920s villa on the wild eastern edge of Yufu, this 17-room ryokan sits at the foot of Mount Yufu with gardens and forest in every direction. Danish furniture sits next to local crafts inside, and rooms come tatami or Western style. Breakfast can be Western, but dinner stays entirely Japanese. MICHELIN gave it two Keys.
