What the classifiers highlight
A 17th-century chapel to San Pietro marks the entrance, then the hotel drops down the cliff face in stepped terraces, opened in 1970 and still run by the Cinque family. A lift carries guests to a private beach bar below. Chef Alois Vanlangenaeker runs Zass, the fine-dining fixture at the top, and no children under 10 are admitted.
